Tire Balancing Station From HUDY

HUDY has released their new universal tire balancing station and, as the name suggests, it fits all standard RC car wheels. This tire tool is important because we all know what an unbalanced tire does to an all-wheel drive RC Car, like all XRAY RC cars. It creates crazy vibrations which hinders your RC car's stability, traction and ability to absorb bumps. This tire tool will also find poorly glued rubber tires or problem with tire inserts.

The HUDY tire balancing station has a wide base which makes it stable for all tires sizes. It can support 1/10th, 1/8th, 1/6th and 1/5th scale wheels. So you know you can use this tire tool on your XRAY NT1, T2'008, XT8 and 808. There are two adapters for the tire balancing station and they match different RC scales. Here are all the part numbers if this is what you need.

#105500 - HUDY Universal Tire Balancing Station
#105510 - Wheel Adapter for 1/8 Off-Road Cars, Truggy & Rally Game
#105520 - Wheel Adapter for 1/10 Touring cars

You can buy HUDY products from your favorite XRAY dealer. If you would like to order from RC XRAY, just send an email to orders@rcxray.com and we can help you out.

XRAY in October Issue of Xtreme RC Cars

XRAY tends to appear in Xtreme RC Cars pretty often. There were several XRAY instances in the August and September issues.

  • Page 20: Inside Line features the new HUDY RC car stands. The two stands are for touring cars and 1/8th scale off-road buggies and truggies. With that said you know they are perfect fits for the XRAY NT1, T2'008, 808 and XT8.
  • Page 22: The Pro-Line Crowd Pleaser 2.0 body for the XRAY 808 is also featured in Inside Line.
  • Page 26: The XRAY NT1 gets a lighter aluminum clutch bell. It has the same strength and durability, but it's about half as heavy as the standard version.
  • Page 30: On the events calendar, I see the Mid America's XRAY Challenge 08 was run September 20-21. It's an on-road race in Jonesboro, AR. I haven't heard any news on the winners yet.
  • Page 33: The article Pack A Lunch in the Quick Tips section features a photo of a guy in an RC America/XRAY t-shirt. I can't identify who it is so let me know if you know who he is.
  • Page 57: The recent 2008 1/8th Buggy Worlds have a pre-race article in this month's magazine. The article is in the In The Dirt section and talks about all of the new buggies that have been released recently just for this race. Of course, the XRAY 808 is mentioned.
"XRAY never sleeps and they've been tweaking the 808 since it came out. We bet you're going to see some new parts being tested. They've got a pretty good team and with a car that actually works on US tracks it might be their year."
I was disappointed to hear Josh Wheeler's tires came unglued which prevented him from making the championship main at the Worlds. He finished 17th while Josh Quagraine was 15th. Wheeler looked really good when we were at the Worlds qualifying.
  • Page 165: At the 2008 Drifting Championship, Karlo Sison is listed as finishing 24th in the Advanced class. I was surprised to see Sison is running an XRAY T1. Going old school. The T1 was released in 2000.
  • Page 194: In Gear lists HUDY's ultimate solder for the 'RC professional.'
If you see an XRAY instance than I missed or have something to add, just let me know.

XRAY Releases Lightweight 2-Speed Shaft For NT1

XRAY has picked up the pace of releasing new option parts lately. This time the XRAY NT1 gets the new hop-up part and it's a lightweight 2-speed shaft. Just like with the last several parts released, XRAY has released the rotating weight. The new 2-speed layshaft is 50% lighter than the factory version.

If you want this new part, ask your favorite XRAY dealer for part number #335511. The new lightweight shaft will cost you about $25 while the standard one costs about $17. If you want to order this or any other XRAY parts, you can email us at orders@rcxray.com.

12° Aluminum Caster Blocks for XRAY 808

Team XRAY has already released the 10° aluminum caster blocks for their 1/8th scale off-road nitro buggy. This time they have announced the 12° aluminum caster blocks for the XRAY 808. Just like with the previous aluminum casters, these provide some adjustability and they weigh the same as the composite versions. They are stronger than the composite casters too. Each one is engraved so your can quickly tell the right from the left.

If you would like to get these for your 808, they will cost you about $44 each. Here are the parts numbers you will need.

352217 - XB808 Alu Caster Block 12° Right - Swiss 7075 T6
352227 - XB808 Alu Caster Block 12° Left - Swiss 7075 T6

RC XRAY and any other US XRAY dealer should be able to get these from RC America.

XRAY Releases Lightweight Drive Axle for T2

Team XRAY just announced a new drive axle for their 1/10th scale on-road electric touring car line. The drive axle is very lightweight because it is made of HUDY Spring Steel. As always, XRAY wants to reduce rotating weight and they have done so here by 35%. The new drive axle fits the XRAY T2'008, T2'007, T2R, and T2.

If you want this new option part for your T2, ask for part number 305341. We checked our August edition of the XRAY dealers price list and the new T2 part is not included so we can not tell you how much it will cost at this point.

RC XRAY Headed to Worlds Qualifying Now

Hey everyone. This is a short post. I just wanted to let everyone know that we're headed to The Farm II for the third round of qualifying at IFMAR 1/8 Scale Buggy Off Road World Championships. We're leaving as soon as I publish this post. I'm going to be blogging live from the track and you can follow along at Twitter.

http://twitter.com/LesPorter

Update (9/18/2008): We got back from qualifying and Josh Wheeler (TQ of round 2) was TQ until the last race when Mike Truhe took it. The third race from the end was the best of the day. I think 5 of the top 10 qualifiers were replaced in this race. The spectators cheered the end of the race.

Super-Light Solid Axle for XRAY NT1

Team XRAY released a new option part for the XRAY NT1. It's a really light solid axle for XRAY's 1/10th scale 4WD nitro on-road touring car. The new solid axle replaces the standard diff or Multi-Diff. It's 56% lighter than both and made from HUDY Spring Steel. XRAY is always trying to reduce rotating weight.

The new XRAY NT1 axle is so new it isn't included in the August edition of XRAY's dealer price list so we can't tell you how much it costs. We'll have to get an updated version. If you want to order the new super-light solid axle for your NT1 ask for part number 335180.

Price Drop On XRAY 808 & XT8

If you have been following me on Twitter or this blog, you already know about XRAY's price increase for the US which was announced by RC America in late July. We found out about it on July 28th and changed the prices at RC XRAY on July 29th.

Since then, we have been waiting for other online XRAY dealers to update their prices and it hasn't happened. You may be wondering why XRAY dealers have to increase their prices. The answer is they don't have to for all of their XRAY RC cars, but all US dealers have to sell the XRAY 808, XT8, NT1 and T2'008 at the same price. All of these XRAY cars fall under MAP pricing.

It's been 1.5 months since the price increase and we're tired of waiting on the other dealers. We are lowering our prices on the XRAY 808 and XT8 to $610 each. XT8 and 808 orders will get free shipping just like all of our other XRAY RC cars. Check out our shipping policy if you want more information. The price drop is effectively immediately.

Another Customer Testimonial For RC XRAY

At RC XRAY, we always enjoy receiving customer testimonials. Whenever we get a nice word or compliment from a customer, we like to share it. We've been talking with Bryan F. from Longwood, FL for awhile. Bryan ordered a XRAY 808 from us and sent the following.

"I can't emphasize this enough, you guys are awesome to deal with. I will do it again in the future and definitely suggest you to others. Unbelievable customer service."
Thanks Bryan. We added his testimonial to the home page of our XRAY RC store. Just check the right column of the page. You can also read our last customer review.

Since this is a shorter blog post I'll add this. If you have a Twitter account, I encourage you to follow me. We will be attending the 2008 1/8th Buggy Worlds this week and I will be tweeting (posting updates) from The Farm II.

XRAY 808 Shipment Arrived Today

Good news! We received our XRAY 808 shipment from RC America today. We got all of the XRAY 808 kits we had on back order so if you have ordered an 808 from us you probably already got an email from RC XRAY saying we will ship your XRAY 1/8th scale off-road nitro buggy tomorrow morning. You can check our shipping policy if you want to see how long it will take USPS Priority Mail to reach your location. It will be 1-4 days within the United States.

We also received some XRAY 808 parts, but we did not get all of them. We still have not received the XRAY XB808 Active Diff (#355102) and Active Diff Large Bevel Gear 43T (#355143). These items have been back ordered the longest for us. We have not heard anything about when they will come in.

If you have any questions, feel free to email Les at les@rcxray.com. If you follow Les Porter at Twitter, you already heard about this.

IFMAR 1/8th Buggy Worlds Approaching

At RC XRAY, we have been looking forward to the IFMAR 1/8 Scale Buggy Off Road World Championships for awhile now. We even attended the Pre-Worlds Race in July. The Worlds are less than 2 weeks away and they will be held at The Farm II in Charlotte, NC. They will run from 9/14 to 9/21 and we will be there since it's in our hometown. Neo-Buggy.net just released photos showing the The Farm II's track condition. It looks ready.

The drivers list was released this week and there are 216 drivers competing from all over the world. Here is a list of the countries represented.

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Spain
  • Germany
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Great Britain
  • Italy
  • Czeck Republic
  • Norway
  • Slovakia (Home of Team XRAY)
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Belgium
  • Portugal
  • Finland
  • Luxemburg
  • Argentina
  • Venezuela
  • Columbia
  • South Africa
  • Brazil
  • Israel
  • Mexico
  • Indonesia
  • Australia
  • Japan
  • Taiwan
  • Thailand
  • Singapore
There are a several top drivers. I'm not going to name them all because the list of countries was long enough. Adam Drake, Taylor James, Ty Tessman and Ryan Maifield are on the list, but you won't see Jared Tebo. I see several XRAY 808 drivers too like Josh Wheeler (USA), Ryan Lopez (USA) and Joseph Quagraine (Finland). They all finished in the top 10 at the Pre-Worlds race in July. Glenn Phuah (Singapore), Chester Chua (Singapore) Jason Branham (USA), Heitor Nogueira (Brazil), Helio Mattos (Brazil) and Leon McIntosh (USA) will also be racing for XRAY. If I missed any other XRAY drivers, let me know.

Update (9/6/2008): I asked around on the forums and found some more. Jon Hazlewood (Great Britain), Nick Drygalla (Australia) and Chris Russell (Australia) will also be racing with the XRAY 808.

Even better, Martin and Juraj Hudy will be coming to Charlotte. Juraj Hudy is the Chief Designer at XRAY and Martin recently finished 3rd with his XRAY NT1 at the 2008 World Championship for 1/10 nitro touring cars. Lastly, we're happy to see local driver Chris Pace is in the field. We've seen Chris a lot in Charlotte over the past few years and glad to see he'll be representing Charlotte at the Worlds. Lance Norick owns The Farm II and he'll be racing. Brandon Melton has raced in our area quite a bit and he's from Rock Hill, SC.

If you planning to attend the Worlds, race officials have released a schedule (PDF) that includes registration, practice, qualifying and mains.

BCE Speed Releases XRAY 808 Pro Chassis

If you follow the R/C Tech Forums, you probably saw this in the XRAY 808 thread. BCE Speed has manufactured, tested and releases their own chassis for XRAY's 1/8th scale off-road nitro buggy. The BCE Speed website is a little light on information but you can see they offer RC racing products for multiple RC lines. They say their chassis "has improved material for rigidity and longer wear."

Someone affiliated with BCE Speed posted this to the XRAY 808 thread.

"Hi 808 Guys here is our new Racing Chassis for the new 808 buggy, I am very happy to report we have had great feedback from our testers. So good we have sold out the complete first run. I will be taking new pre orders for the next run."
If you're considering replacing your existing XRAY 808 chassis, this one will cost you $98.95. The standard aluminum chassis from XRAY (#351102) will cost about the same. So there's is no cost savings with this new chassis from BCE Speed and I don't know what it is made of.

US Micro On-Road Nationals in December

The second annual United States Micro On-Road Nationals are coming up. The 1/18th Nationals will be held at R/C Madness in Enfield, CT again this year.

XRAY and RC America are sponsors but so is Castle Creations. The first 100 stock class entries get a free brushless motor. The entry fee is $35, but $30 for each additional class. We hope to see lots of XRAY M18, M18 PRO and M18T PRO entries. I'm sure we'll see Zack Barry and his XRAY M18B. Here's the entry form.
