XRAY Unveils New 1/12th Pan Car - The XII

XRAY posted a first look of their new RC car, the XRAY XII, on their website on November 8th. The XII is XRAY's first entry into the 1/12th scale electric on-road pan car class.

We already have questions about the XII so here's a little Q&A that may answer some of your concerns.

Q: How much will the XRAY XII cost?
A: We don't know yet. We went through this process just a few days ago with the XRAY T2'009. We called RC America to ask about it and they have not received pricing for the T2'009. XRAY has released a lot more information about the T2'009 than they have for the XII so we're not going to bother RC America yet.

Q: When will the XRAY XII be released?
A: We don't the XII released date either, but we can make a good guess. Last year, the T2'008 came out a couple months after it was announced. RC America did not know the release date for the T2'009 either but guessed it would be released in a similar time frame to the T2'008. This would put the release around Christmas and it makes sense that XRAY would want to get in on the Christmas shopping season. We're going to apply the same logic to the XII. Our best guess is that you will be able to buy the XII around Christmas.

Q: Given the high demand for newly released XRAY RC cars, is RC XRAY going to take preorders for the XRAY XII?
A: Yes. XRAY has to release more information about the XII before we can do so, but we will take preorders for the XII just like we are for the T2'009. XRAY fans only need to pay $50 USD for us to reserve their XII at RC America. The $50 is non-refundable because we are committed to RC America once we order it.

Q: Is XRAY racing the XII yet? If so, how has it performed?
A: Good question. The 1/12th Worlds just finished yesterday in Thailand and XRAY gave the XRAY XII to its team drivers. Teemu Leino was one of ten drivers to make the A main. Teemu didn't win but the XII did very well considering this was its first race against the world's best drivers and pan cars. Teemu actually had the fastest time on the first day of practice.

Q: All of the XRAY XII photos say "prototype". Will the pan car change between now and launch?
A: I can't say for sure. Knowing XRAY, they will draw from their experience at the Worlds and make any improvements they can. Once they are satisfied then they will release the XRAY XII to their fans and customers.

The model will be available for Europe or just US customers?

It would be a huge surprise if the XRAY XII isn't available worldwide. It would be the first XRAY RC car to have a limited release.
