XRAY makes several appearances in the August 2008 issue of Xtreme RC Cars. As I have done for previous issues, here is where you'll find Team XRAY in your copy of issue #153.
- Cover: The XRAY 808 is reviewed in this issue so it made the cover. What's funny is the rear tire wasn't properly glued to the wheel and you can see it coming loose.
- Page 15: The Novak full page advertisement is for a nitro to electric conversion kit. The XRAY XB8 is listed, but no 808. Will the XB8 conversion kit will work on a 808. The answer is yes. We already see XRAY fans converting their nitro 808 to electric with the Novak kit.
- Page 60: The Rumor Mill in the Touring Corner mentions the following about XRAY T2'008 parts.
"If you're looking for a composite diff for your XRAY, you may have to wait awhile - the company has admitted that its parts molding facilities are so completely over-booked that they have begun to push back certain products due to product and time constraints."
What XRC failed to mention is that XRAY is including aluminum upgrade diffs in T2'008 kits at no additional cost because of this. Not too bad. - Page 63: In the Chassis Roulette article, XRC is discussing chassis upgrades.
"On the opposite side of things, XRAY has released an ultra-thin upper deck for its T2'008 to add even more flex for outdoor asphalt racing, as well as an aluminum chassis brace to help further tune for track conditions."
- Page 78: This is the XRAY 808 review. There was enough info for a separate blog post.
- Page 109: XRAY released a new advertisement for the XRAY 808 that I had not seen. "Maximum Performance On Both Sides Of The World." Pretty cool.
- Page 122: XRAY is listed as an affiliate sponsor for the 2008 ROAR Truck Nationals at the Nitro Pit.
- Page 133: XRAY's top US driver, Josh Wheeler, finished 7th in the final at the 2008 1/8th scale buggy Nationals.
- Page 155: Ralph Burch finish 7th in the Invitational Class at the 2008 Reedy Race of Champions. Ralph is one of the top guys at RC America. Paul Lemieux finished 9th in the same class. In the Open Mod class, Steve Weiss finished 8th. Jeff Hastings and Jay Filipow finished 8th and 9th respectively in the 13.5T class. Everyone was running an XRAY T2'008 except for Jeff who used the 2007 version.
- Pages 159 & 160: Zack Barry won two classes and finished 2nd in another at the 2008 1/18th Indoor Off-Road Nationals. He was racing with his XRAY M18T, M18B PRO and M18MT PRO.
- Page 178: The In Gear section mentions the XRAY 808 front and rear shock towers which were announced back in May.
