RCTV Features The XRAY 808

RCTV just released their newest episode where Jeff Maturo and Mike Boylan feature the XRAY 808, the latest version of Team XRAY's 1/8th scale off-road nitro buggy. Episode 719 not only includes a review of the 808, but Ralph Burch from RC America calls in to discuss the XB808 and its improvements. The review starts at the 9:06 minute mark and runs for at least 10 minutes. Here are just a few highlights from the show.

Jeff and Mike

  • The 808 is the "best product we've ever had on the program."
  • Team XRAY has the best "fit and finish of any car we have ever tested."
  • XRAY's 1/18th scale RC cars are "tremendous products."
  • "[The 808] is phenomenal."
Ralph Burch
  • "The shocks were the biggest improvement we made from the EC to the current 808."
  • "The freeness of the drivetrain, the acceleration of the car, is a huge difference" between the 808 and the previous version."
  • "More options" in the 808's adjustability.
Chris Fowler
  • "[The 808] manual is just beautiful."
  • "The best manual I've ever seen for putting together an RC car."
  • "Wow! What an experience man!"
  • "Awesome car."

Electric 808 On The Way?

One of the more exciting parts of the Ralph Burch interview is when he's asked if fans can expect an electric version of the XRAY XB808. We already know 808 owners are coverting their buggies to electric so the demand is there. Ralph replies to say he thinks an electric 808 is "a possibility" and the XRAY has asked RC America to "do some research for them". RC America has asked XRAY to "really look into" offering an electric version. Ralph says he doesn't know if it will be a complete kit or a conversion. "It seems like something [XRAY] is interested in doing." Ralph finishes by saying "it would be kind of foolish not to consider" an electric 808 since there seems "there is going to be a market for [the 808]".
