Weekend Damage Report

We cranked up our XRAY NT18MTs last weekend. We had 3 out of 4 running. We were hoping a differential would arrive in time, but we discovered it was on back order at RC America. So we only had 3 racing.

I got to run my NT18MT for about 2 hours and here's the damage report.

  • It took less than a lap to figure out I needed to tighten my diffs. I was certain I had done this when I finished running the last time, but I guess not. I decided when I finished tightening them that I'm using Loctite next time.
  • When I was coming down the backstretch my truck had a single glitch and turned right on me. I hit a very hard stationary object. After a quick examination, everything looked good. However, a few laps later the exhaust came loose and I was pretty sure the previous impact had something to do with it. This time it only cost me a zip tie.
  • I'm back out racing again and we're driving pretty hard. We're coming down the backstretch and my brother's NT18MT is right behind me. I hit the brakes before I get to the turn, but he never lets off. He drives me directly into the well. I turn my truck around and notice it's not sitting right. Broken upper front right arm. Luckily, we had a spare handy.
  • I'm running again after a short pit stop. I forget how this one happened but I cut about 5 flips. I drove 2 laps and then my exhaust came loose again.

At this point, I was out of time. I dropped in some after run oil and left the repair until next time. I was happy the repairs didn't cost me anything, but I would like to decrease the number of visits to the pit area.
